The capillary electrophoresis method is based on ion migration in an aqueous buffer solution under the action of a constant electric field. The separation of the components takes place inside a capillary made of fused quartz, where the electrolyte moves with minimal friction against the walls, which ensures efficiency reaching millions of theoretical plates. The system supports all major modes of electrophoretic separations, including capillary electrokinetic chromatography and band electrophoresis. The built-in diode-matrix detector registers absorption in the wavelength range from 190 to 600 nanometers. The use of capillaries with an increased optical path increases sensitivity by 10-15 times compared to competitive solutions. The noise level of the baseline is less than 20 micrometers, which makes it possible to detect impurities at 0.05 percent of the main peak. The linear dynamic range of the detector reaches four orders of magnitude, and the data acquisition frequency is up to 40 Hertz. The sample is supplied by two methods: hydrodynamic with pressure control from minus 100 to plus 100 millibars, or electrokinetic with voltage up to plus or minus 30 kilovolts. The device allows you to program voltage, current, and power gradients in the ranges up to 30 kilovolts, 300 microamps, and 6 watts, respectively. The automatic sampler holds 50 vials with a volume of 0.1, 1 or 2 milliliters, with sample temperature control from 10 to 40 degrees Celsius. The buffer solution replenishment system ensures long-term autonomous operation without operator intervention. The capillary is thermostated by a Peltier element with forced ventilation. The temperature is maintained in the range of 10 degrees below room temperature to 60 degrees Celsius. The capillary cassette design ensures quick replacement and self-centering during installation. The device is controlled via the Agilent ChemStation software, which is unified with the manufacturer's chromatographic equipment, which simplifies the development of the system for operators already working with HPLC or GC. The built-in diagnostic tools of Agilent Lab Advisor with RFID tags monitor lamp life and predict the need for maintenance. The device is equipped with liquid and current leakage sensors, as well as a high voltage blocking system when the protective cover is opened. The system is compatible with third-party detectors, as well as Agilent 6100 and 6000 series mass spectrometers. The power consumption of the device does not exceed 300 watts.
