Thermo Scientific TRACE 1600
Gas chromatograph

The TRACE 1600 GC is an analytical system designed for scenarios requiring minimal operator physical access to the instrument. Local operations are limited to hardware buttons for starting and stopping a sequence; all other control functions—including method editing, chromatogram viewing, and status monitoring—are performed remotely via Chromeleon CDS software. The TRACE 1600 platform is fully unified with its flagship 1610 model. The instrument utilizes a reduced thermal mass column thermostat, ensuring rapid startup and reduced cool-down time. The system's reduced footprint facilitates equipment movement and frees up laboratory workspace. The iConnect modular architecture is a…

Thermo Scientific TRACE 1600 Gas Chromatography System
The iConnect modular architecture is a key feature of the TRACE 1600 series. Injectors and detectors are connected without cables or gas lines, and each module stores its own calibration data, allowing for replacement or in-depth purification without interrupting the analytical process or calling a service engineer. iConnect components are interchangeable with the TRACE 1300 system, ensuring method portability between generations of equipment. The instrument configuration allows for the simultaneous installation of up to two injector modules and up to two detector modules on the main unit. For expanded analytical capabilities, a TRACE 1610 auxiliary thermostat can be connected, allowing for additional detectors and multi-column configurations. The full range of injector types (SSL, PTV, COC, GSV) and detectors (FID, TDP, ECD, FPD, TID, and plasma discharge ionization detector) are available for installation on the 1600 model. The iConnect Column Lock allows for tool-free connection of capillary columns: locking is accomplished with a simple fingertip motion, eliminating the risk of overtightening and damaging the threads. Column length can be adjusted prior to installation. The configuration integrates HeSaver-H2Safer helium-saving technology, which supplies helium only to the analytical column, using nitrogen for other components, extending the service life of the gas cylinder up to five times. System status monitoring is provided via the SmartStatus function in the Chromeleon CDS. The software displays the instrument's readiness for operation, consumable status, and generates alerts when needed.
