Thermo Scientific TSQ 9610
Triple quadrupole gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer

The Thermo Scientific TSQ 9610 mass spectrometry system is a triple quadrupole detector for gas chromatography, designed for laboratories with high demands on sensitivity and throughput. The instrument is in demand in the fields of food safety, environmental monitoring, forensic chemistry and clinical research, where the quantitative determination of target compounds at extremely low concentrations is required. A key design feature of the system is NeverVent technology, which allows the chromatographic column to be replaced and the ion source to be cleaned without releasing the vacuum or switching off the instrument. This solution is achieved…

Triple quadrupole gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer Thermo Scientific TSQ 9610
This solution is achieved through the VPI (Vacuum Probe Interlock) vacuum probe interface and the V-Lock ion source connector. Maintenance can be carried out without interrupting the analytical process, which is critically important for laboratories operating around the clock. Users can choose between two types of ion sources depending on their specific requirements. The standard ExtractaBrite model features an inert source with two filaments, suitable for routine analyses. The flagship Advanced Electron Ionisation (AEI) version delivers detection limits at the accogram level, enabling the reliable detection of ultra-trace concentrations of contaminants in complex food and environmental matrices. Configurations with mode-switching capability are available for chemical ionisation (both positive and negative). A key component of the system is the XLXR detector, which is an electron multiplier with an off-axis dynode. Compared with previous generations of instruments, this detector doubles the linear dynamic range, enabling both ultra-low-level components and highly concentrated compounds to be detected simultaneously in a single injection. Laboratories are now able to combine several methods within a single analysis, including the construction of calibration curves across a wide range of concentrations. The EvoCell collision cell delivers a detection rate of up to 800 multi-monitoring reactions per second. This throughput enables thousands of ion transitions to be tracked simultaneously within a single analytical cycle, which is particularly valuable when screening multi-component mixtures of pesticides, dioxins and other persistent organic pollutants. The system supports full-scan mode, selected-ion monitoring, and combined data acquisition using both methods in a single analysis. The SmartStatus instrument monitoring function, which forms part of the Chromeleon CDS software, provides the operator with clear information on the system’s readiness for operation, the remaining service life of consumables, and the need for preventative maintenance. The SIM Bridge and AutoSRM tools simplify the migration of methods from obsolete equipment and automate the creation of new methods. The software complies with the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11, which is critical for accredited laboratories operating in regulated sectors. The instrument is compatible with Thermo Scientific gas chromatographs from the TRACE 1300, TRACE 1600 series gas chromatographs and the AI/AS 1610, TriPlus 500 HS and TriPlus RSH SMART autosamplers. The system carries the ACT environmental label, which confirms transparency regarding its environmental impact and helps laboratories make informed decisions when purchasing equipment.
