The FluoroBloc device from Analab is a sample preparation heating unit designed for acid mineralization of samples before analysis by ICP-OES, ICP-MS and AAS methods. The equipment is aimed at laboratories working in the field of environmental monitoring, metallurgy, geology, petrochemistry, pharmaceuticals, as well as in semiconductor and nuclear industries. The working surface of the unit is made of special graphite with a PFA coating (perfluoroalkoxy, an inert fluoropolymer), resistant to aggressive acids, including nitric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric. The absence of exposed metal surfaces prevents contamination of samples with metal ions, which allows the device to be used in Class 1 (ISO 3) clean rooms. The design ensures uniform heating of each tube along the walls and bottom, which guarantees optimal mineralization conditions with a temperature deviation of no more than plus or minus 2 degrees Celsius. The unit is available in two standard sizes: for 24 or 48 seating positions. The depth of the sockets is 50 millimeters for models with a volume of 30 milliliters and 79 millimeters for models with a volume of 50 milliliters. The diameter of all the sockets is the same and is equal to 31 millimeters, which corresponds to the outer diameter of standard tubes of 30 millimeters. The maximum operating temperature reaches 250 degrees Celsius. The heating is controlled via an external temperature controller located outside the fume hood to protect the electronics from a corrosive atmosphere. Single-mode controllers with a single temperature point and timer are available, as well as programmable models with the ability to set multi-stage temperature profiles. Two-channel regulators provide feedback from an external temperature sensor immersed directly into the solution in a test tube. The manufacturer produces ready-made kits, including a mineralization unit, a TransRack transport rack for group transfer of test tubes and a temperature controller with a timer. An optional evaporation station with a HEPA filter and a system for removing aggressive vapors is available for working with volatile acids.
