Thermo Scientific Element XR
High-resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer

The Thermo Scientific Element XR mass spectrometric system belongs to the class of high-resolution magnetic sector mass spectrometers with double focusing, which are necessary for those cases when the power of a traditional quadrupole is insufficient. The device is the gold standard for geochronology, isotope geochemistry and nuclear materials analysis, and is also used in the production of high-purity chemicals and materials science. Unlike standard systems, Element XR is able to physically separate the analyte and the interfering matrix by weight. The device is equipped with a Slot Assembly system that switches between three fixed…

High-resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer Thermo Scientific Element XR
The device is equipped with a Slot Assembly system that switches between three fixed resolution modes in less than 1 second: low resolution for maximum sensitivity, medium resolution for analyte and matrix separation, and high resolution for the most complex interferences. The high-resolution mode makes it possible to reliably separate arsenic from chloride interference in saline solutions. The key feature of the XR model is the advanced detector. In addition to the secondary electronic multiplier, it is equipped with a Faraday detector. This extends the linear dynamic range up to 12 orders of magnitude by automatically switching between the multiplier and the Faraday cage. The system allows the measurement of uranium in the range from trace concentrations to percentages in a single sample. The optional Jet Interface increases the sensitivity of the device, reaching values of more than 3 billion pulses per second per millionth fraction for indium in wet plasma. The magnetic field scanning time covers the range from mass 7 to 240 and back in less than 150 milliseconds. The system provides exceptional mass stability and high sensitivity for isotopic ratios.
