The Thermo Scientific iCAP MSX mass spectrometric system is a single quadrupole ICP-MS designed for laboratories performing routine elemental analysis in a wide range of matrices, from environmental and food samples to geological materials and metals. The device was released in 2024 and sets a new standard for ease of use in ICP-MS analytics. The key feature of the system is Intelligent Matrix Handling (IMH) technology, which reduces the impact of the sample on the device at times when detection is not performed. This solution significantly extends the cleaning intervals of the interface cones, minimizing downtime and increasing overall laboratory productivity. The integrated argon dilution solution AGD (Argon Gas Dilution) allows direct injection of samples with a high content of dissolved solids without prior sample preparation. The effective elimination of spectral interference is provided by the QCell cell operating in a single mode with helium and kinetic energy discriminant (KED) over the entire mass range. IntelliLens technology automatically selects the optimal lens voltage settings for each analyte, providing exceptional sensitivity over the entire mass range. The intelligent setup at the start of Get Ready allows the device to switch to operating mode in the shortest possible time without operator intervention. The condition of the device is monitored through the Hawk Consumables and Maintenance Assistant (CMA), which monitors the condition of consumable components and reminds of the need for scheduled maintenance in accordance with laboratory regulations. CMA is integrated into the Qtegra ISDS software, simplifying daily workflows. The system is certified according to the ACT environmental standard, which confirms the transparency of environmental impact. The device is manufactured at a facility in Germany.
