The Thermo Scientific iCAP PRO X spectrometer belongs to the class of inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometers and is a high-performance model in the PRO series aimed at laboratories with high reliability and throughput requirements. The device is in demand in environmental monitoring, food safety control, geology, metallurgy, petrochemistry and materials science. The key feature of the system is the vertical orientation of the burner with an internal corrosion-resistant chamber, which provides resistance to high levels of dissolved salts and organic solvents. The device is available in two configurations: a radial configuration for analyzing complex matrices with high solids content and a duo configuration combining radial and axial observation modes for maximum sensitivity in detecting trace concentrations. The time to exit cold mode is 30 minutes, and from standby mode is 15 minutes. The optical system is based on an echelle polychromator with cross-dispersion and temperature control, which ensures long-term stability and reduces the need for recalibration. The resolution of the device is 7 picometers at a wavelength of 200 nanometers. The CID821 detector with charging injection and non-destructive reading allows simultaneous recording of the full spectrum in the range from 167.021 to 852.145 nanometers without blurring bright lines. The Qtegra ISDS software provides intuitive navigation, allowing the operator to add wavelengths, create methods, analyze samples, and perform data postprocessing at the same time as the data collection process. The three-channel peristaltic pump with adjustable rotation speed from 0 to 45 revolutions per minute makes it easy to connect an online internal standard or use a hydride generator. The system is equipped with three MFC mass flowmeters for precise monitoring of spray, plasma and auxiliary gases, as well as a blocked drain sensor that turns off the system when a leak is detected in the test path. The built-in semi-automatic demountable torch simplifies maintenance.
