DB-HeavyWAX retains WAX selectivity, but can withstand heating up to 280 degrees in isothermal mode and up to 290 degrees in temperature programming mode. The key advantage of the column is its high thermal stability. Unlike traditional WAX phases, which after 25 hours of operation at 280 degrees show an irreversible shift in retention times, DB-HeavyWAX remains stable for 100 hours of operation at the same temperature. This stability allows for the final high-temperature heating of the column after each cycle. This operation removes heavy non-volatile matrix components from the column, reducing contamination transfer and the risk of ghost peaks in subsequent analyses. Belonging to the family of polar phases based on polyethylene glycol, the DB-HeavyWAX column fully complies with the classical WAX selectivity. It perfectly separates polar compounds: free fatty acids, solvents, essential oils, flavors and food components. It can be directly used in standard methods developed for other WAX speakers, without re-validation, but with the ability to analyze a wider range of target components. The increased temperature range speeds up the analysis. Since heavy components elute faster at high temperatures, the total cycle time is reduced by about 20 percent. For particularly demanding applications, the column is compatible with multidimensional gas chromatography configurations, including two-dimensional gas chromatography. The column is made of fused quartz, is available in a wide range of geometric sizes and meets the requirements of USP G16.
