Agilent J&W DB-Sulfur SCD
Capillary column for gas chromatography with seroselective detection

The Agilent J&W DB-Sulfur SCD capillary column is optimized for operation with a chemiluminescent sulfur detector, ensuring a low level of stationary phase flushing and reducing contamination of the ceramic detector tube. This design significantly reduces equipment downtime and laboratory operating costs. The stationary phase is 100% dimethylpolysiloxane, which meets the requirements of the ASTM D5623 and D5504 standard methods. The main difficulty in analyzing volatile sulfur compounds lies in their polarity, high reactivity, and tendency to adsorb on the active centers of the surface. Due to its high inertia, the DB-Sulfur SCD column provides…

Capillary column for gas chromatography with seroselective detection Agilent J&W DB-Sulfur SCD
Due to its high inertia, the DB-Sulfur SCD column provides excellent peak shape for a wide range of reactive compounds, from hydrogen sulfide and carbonyl sulfide to mercaptans and thiophenes. A low level of flushing is critically important for a chemiluminescent detector, since volatile siloxanes released from the column are baked on a ceramic burner, reducing sensitivity and necessitating frequent cleaning. The column demonstrates high resolution when separating complex pairs of connections. Carbonyl sulfide and sulfur dioxide are often co-eluted on standard nonpolar columns, and their partial separation with a resolution of about 0.8 is achieved on DB-Sulfur SCD with a length of 70 meters. In addition, the separation of difficult-to-separate compounds such as 1-methyl-1-propanethiol, thiophene, and 2-methyl-1-propanethiol is improved in this stationary phase. The analysis of sulfur compounds can be carried out at a starting temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, which eliminates the need for cryogenic cooling and simplifies daily work. The column is available in a wide range of geometric sizes. Variants with an inner diameter of 0.32 millimeters, 40 or 60 meters long and a film thickness of 0.75; 3.0 or 4.2 micrometers, as well as a model with an inner diameter of 0.53 millimeters, 70 meters long and a film thickness of 4.3 micrometers, are available. The operating temperature range varies depending on the thickness of the film: for the 0.75 micrometer version it ranges from minus 60 to 270-290 degrees Celsius, for thicker film versions — from minus 60 to 250-270 degrees.
