Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse Plus Phenyl-Hexyl
High performance liquid chromatography column

The Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse Plus Phenyl-Hexyl chromatographic column belongs to the class of reverse-phase sorbents based on highly purified porous silica gel type B with grafted dimethylphenylhexylsilane groups and double endcapping. The stationary phase with phenyl-hexyl modification provides alternative selectivity compared to classical alkyl columns due to additional π-π interactions between aromatic rings of analytes and the stationary phase. The sorbent is produced on the basis of ultrapure silica gel with a purity of more than 99.995 percent, which practically eliminates the undesirable interaction of metal ions with the active centers of the silica surface.…

High performance liquid chromatography column Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse Plus Phenyl-Hexyl
The sorbent is produced on the basis of ultrapure silica gel with a purity of more than 99.995 percent, which practically eliminates the undesirable interaction of metal ions with the active centers of the silica surface. Modification with dimethylphenylhexylsilane creates a dense monomolecular layer, and subsequent double endcapping with special reagents ensures maximum deactivation of free silanol groups. This results in excellent peak shapes for acidic, basic, and neutral compounds, especially for components that produce asymmetric peaks or low efficiency on traditional C18 columns. The column has a pore size of 95-100 Angstroms and a specific surface area of about 160 square meters per gram. Carbon loading is 9 percent. The pH stability range is from 2 to 8, the operating temperature is limited to 60 degrees Celsius at pH from 2 to 6 and 40 degrees at pH from 6 to 8. The phenyl-hexyl phase is classified according to the USP as L11. The column is available with particles with diameters of 1.8, 3.5, 5 and 7 micrometers, which allows it to be used both in classical high-performance liquid chromatography devices with pressures up to 400 bar, and in ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography systems withstanding pressures up to 600 bar. Modifications with 1.8 micrometer particles are available for operation at ultra-high pressures up to 1200 bar. The size range includes internal diameters from 2.1 to 21.2 millimeters and lengths from 30 to 250 millimeters. The column is widely used in pharmaceutical analysis, food quality control and environmental monitoring. It is particularly effective for the separation of aromatic compounds, nitroaromatics, substituted benzenes and steviolglycosides. The device is also used for the analysis of antibiotics, amphetamines, statins and wastewater pollutants.
