High performance liquid chromatography column Agilent ZORBAX StableBond (SB) C18

The Agilent ZORBAX StableBond (SB) C18 chromatographic column belongs to the class of reverse-phase sorbents based on type B porous silica gel with a high degree of purification. The key feature of the stationary phase is the use of bulk diisobutyl side chains, which sterically protect the siloxane bond from hydrolytic attack at low pH values. Unlike standard C18 speakers, this phase does not undergo endcapping. This is done on purpose, as standard endcapping reagents are chemically unstable in extremely acidic conditions. The sorbent is made on the basis of high-purity silica gel. Due to its porous structure with a pore size of 80 Angstroms and a specific surface area of 180 square meters per gram, the column provides high separation efficiency for low molecular weight compounds with a molecular weight of up to 3000 Da. Carbon loading is 10 percent. The operating pH range ranges from 0.8 to 8.0, which allows the use of the most aggressive acid additives in the mobile phase. Operating temperature range: up to 90 degrees Celsius at pH from 1 to 6 and up to 40 degrees at pH from 6 to 8. The column can withstand pressures from 350 to 400 bar in standard analytical versions. The column is available in a wide range of particle sizes: 1.8, 3.5, 5 and 7 micrometers. The RRHT versions with 1.8 micrometer particles can withstand pressures up to 600 bar and are suitable for high-speed analysis, while the RRHD versions are designed for pressures up to 1200 bar for ultra-high performance liquid chromatography systems. The range of geometric sizes includes internal diameters from 0.3 to 50 millimeters and lengths from 30 to 300 millimeters. Applications include the analysis of acid-stable pharmaceutical substances, the development of methods in aggressive environments, as well as the isolation of impurities in a preparative regime. The column is classified by the USP as L1.
