Thermo Scientific TraceGOLD TG-PAH
Capillary column for gas chromatography

The Thermo Scientific TraceGOLD TG-PAH capillary column is designed for high—resolution analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, a class of persistent organic pollutants subject to mandatory control in food and environmental facilities. The device is in demand in the laboratories of environmental monitoring, food safety and petrochemistry for the identification of 16 priority PAHs according to EPA methods. The key advantage of the column is its ability to provide high selectivity and maximum resolution even for critical isobaric PAH pairs that do not separate or elute together on standard columns. The unique chemistry of the stationary…

The unique chemistry of the stationary phase grafting guarantees reproducible separation of trip-phenylene and chrysene, as well as benzo(b)fluoranthene and benzo(k)fluoranthene, pairs of compounds with the same molecular weight that differ only in spatial structure. The stationary phase has an exceptionally high thermal stability — the maximum operating temperature reaches 360 degrees Celsius. This heat resistance makes it possible to effectively remove heavy high-molecular-weight PAHs with a high boiling point from the column without the risk of phase degradation and washout growth. The low level of stationary phase flushing provides excellent signal-to-noise ratio, which is critical for ultra-consistent analysis. The column is available in several geometric configurations to solve various analytical problems. The 30-meter-long version with an inner diameter of 0.25 millimeters and a film thickness of 0.10 micrometers is the standard choice for most applications. The 40-meter-long, high-performance version with a diameter of 0.18 millimeters is designed for ultrafast analyses and provides maximum resolution in minimal time. The extended version by 60 meters is used to separate the most complex mixtures of PAHs, including isomers with short retention times. The column is compatible with approved EPA 610, 8100 and 8310 methods for the analysis of PAHs in water, wastewater and soils, as well as with EU 1881/2006 and 333/2007 methods for the control of pollutants in food. It is fully compatible with both classical gas chromatographs and GC-MS and GC-MS/MS systems, providing stable and reproducible results when operating in SIM and MRM modes.
