The Edwards EDS200 industrial vacuum pump is a fourth-generation dry screw pump system designed for operation in the most challenging industrial conditions. This equipment is in demand in the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries, in lithium-ion battery production, lyophilization, thin-film coating, and other industries that place high demands on the reliability of pumping equipment. The design is based on two conical screws with variable pitch, which rotate in antiphase without touching each other. This architecture ensures high resistance to dust and condensation. The screws have a conical geometry and variable pitch, ensuring exceptional performance and resistance to contamination. Rotation is synchronized via gears housed in a separate oil compartment and isolated from the vacuum chamber. The pump is available in several models, differing in design and cooling system. General-purpose and chemical-resistant versions are available, differing in flange and seal material. Depending on customer requirements, the pump can be equipped with a direct water cooling system, indirect water cooling (with a closed loop and heat exchanger), or air cooling. The design includes a shaft purge system and a gas ballast valve. The shaft purge supplies an inert gas to the seal area, preventing aggressive or toxic vapors from entering the gearbox and protecting the bearings. The gas ballast allows condensing vapors to be pumped out, reducing thermal stress on the pump. To protect against contamination, the design includes relief valves that reduce motor load when operating at high inlet pressures. The pump is certified for operation in explosive atmospheres according to the European ATEX directive. The equipment can be equipped with a protective cover and configured for various industrial processes, including use in hazardous areas. Pump installation and maintenance are possible in the field by qualified personnel.
